Shower Pan Installation Procedure

The old tile, shower pan, and drain are removed and the new "Zurn" cast iron shower drain with a bronze strainer is installed.
The pan lead is then rolled out.
The lead is then measured and marked.
The lead is formed to the correct shape and contour of the shower.
The shower floor is then lined with roofing felt to prevent contact from the concrete with the pan.
Wood backing is installed between the studs to support the pan and prevent it from bending out of shape. The pan is then set into place in the shower, the drain opening is cut into the lead pan, and the drain flange is installed clamping the pan to the drain.
The lead pan is nailed to the wall studs and wooden backing.
The shower door opening is cut and the corners soldered to create a permanent seal in the shower pan.
The drain is plugged and the pan is tested for 24 hours to insure no leaks. The pan is coated to prevent electrolysis and corrosion.
The pan is then re-tested for inspection by a city plumbing inspector and the tile is then installed by a tile contractor.

The above shower pan is constructed of 4 lb. per square foot sheet lead. We also offer vinyl pans if the lead version is not within your budget. Warranties are 5 years on vinyl pans and lifetime on the lead pans.
